Nicholas Allen Kijula, born in Bayville on September 23, 1985, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his residence in Little Egg Harbor. Nicholas was a beloved father to his two children, son Seth Kijula and daughter Laureli Kijula. Nicholas was an avid BMX rider, musician/singer, master certified welder and 5-year union member, and loving brother to Laborers Local #172. Nicholas was proud to have become a young homeowner and whenever someone he knew had car trouble or needed assistance, Nick was there to help them. Nicholas had an enormous ray of light about him in almost every instance, yet behind closed doors, sadly, like so many of our young today, Nick suffered with an addiction illness. This unaddressed disease that has devastated our society also led to our tragic loss.

Nicholas will be especially missed by his children, Seth and Laureli, his forever loving parents Deborah and John Payer, father Al Mascola, sister Christal Aberle and husband Michael and their children Allilyn and Lyrah, brother Mark Kijula and wife Michele and their children Nodis and Mylee, sisters Britney Payer, Melanie Mascola and Justice Mascola, brother Gage Mascola, countless loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and a vast array of close friends and coworkers. His bestest of friends and support group included his loving mother Deborah, Samantha, Travis, Warren and Aunt Debbie. Nicholas had a loving personality that was unmatched and his passing leaves an unfillable void for his family and friends.

Viewing to be held at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard, Bayville, NJ, 08721, on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 11am until 1pm. Celebration of Life to be held at Faith Baptist Church, 1528 US Route 9, Toms River, NJ, 08755, from 3pm until 5pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. Guests are asked to wear bright and casual clothing to reflect the light that Nicholas brought into our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick’s memory made to America’s Keswick at would be greatly appreciated.

Dear John & Debbie,
I wish I could turn back time. When you first introduced Nick to us as a young boy, I was struck by his beautiful eyes and winning smile. Here was a kid who was interesting and enthusiastic and energetic.
John, I remember you taking us on a walk to some back woods location where Nick and friends had built a BMX bike course from packed soil and wood. He was so cool and strong and determined as he raced his bike along the course and over the jumps, spinning 180 degrees while in the air. I was terrified, Nick was elated and you were proud.
At Payer Family gatherings, Nick really bonded with my sister Jean’s son Nicholas, and they were known as Big Nick & Little Nick.
Nick was so proud of his son Seth and loved him so much. He was gentle & kind and really listened to Seth and talked with him and taught him so many things.
The last time I saw Nick was at my Mom’s house after Dad died and we were cleaning out the house. Nick ate dinner with us and he was taking home one of Dad’s cars and a bunch of tools and equipment. He was a big help to us and he was in great spirits.
I will always remember Nick’s smile and his beautiful eyes and his openness and willingness to talk to everyone.
