William Anthony Banach, 75, of Jackson, NJ, passed away on March 17th, 2023 from cardiac arrest. He grew up in Jersey City, and attended Catholic school. A veteran of the US Army, he served in Vietnam. He met his loving wife while he was stationed in KY. After the birth of his daughter, Alison, he bought a home in Jackson, NJ. Later, came his second daughter, Jennifer. In his younger years he enjoyed spending time with family in NJ and KY, riding his motorcycle, running marathons, going to concerts, and fishing. He spent his adult life as a proud member of Teamster Local 641. After his retirement, he enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren, going to the beach, the boardwalk, the zoo, and fall festivals. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary, his wife Portia, and he left behind his sister Maryann, his brother Joseph, his daughters Jennifer and Alison, and his grandchildren Grace, Alana, Erin, and Connor. He was taken far too soon. He was a kind and generous man who put everyone before himself. He will live on in the hearts of his family and friends now and forever. He will be dearly missed.
A viewing will be held from 4pm - 7pm on Tuesday, March 28th at Mastapeter Funeral Home, located at 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral services will be held on March 29th beginning at 11am at St. Barnabas Church, located at 33 Woodland Rd, Bayville, NJ 08721. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deborah Heart & Lung Center, Shriners Hospital, or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
