Virginia S. McEwan, 83, of Bayville, died peacefully at home on April 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Jersey City, she lived many years in Manalapan before moving to Bayville in 1993. Prior to her retirement, Ginny worked for over 23 years as a Secretary for the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the bell choir. Ginny was also a talented pianist, an award-winning artist, an avid golfer, and a travel enthusiast. Upon her retirement, she and her husband Jim embarked on a series of trips to explore their family heritage, including travels to Italy, Germany, and Scotland. Ginny also headed a local chapter of the Red Hat Society, where she made many friends and was well-known for her kindness and generosity of spirit.
Ginny was predeceased by her son Charles in 2018. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Jim; three children: son James; daughter Anne Finley and her husband John; son Russell and his wife Toni; and daughter-in-law Karen McEwan; as well as ten grandchildren: Christopher, Susan, Kaitlin, Rick, Lindsay, Caroline, Heather, James, Kelly and Emily.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, April 13th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home before celebrating a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church in Bayville. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery in Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ginny’s name to the St. Barnabas Church Altar Rosary Society.
