Thomas "TJ" McDowell

Thomas “TJ” McDowell, 37, of Cherry Hill and Ocean Gate, passed away suddenly on May 1, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Cherry Hill. He was a graduate of Cherry Hill High School West. He then graduated from Rowan University, Neuman University and Alvernia University, earning his master’s degrees in Theology, Psychology and Business Administration. He was employed as a Spiritual Counselor at the Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, PA., and spent his entire adult life helping others who suffered from addiction. He enjoyed spending his summers in Ocean Gate, sailing on Barnegat Bay and Lifeguarding on Ocean Gate Beach. He also loved his camping adventures at Camp Ockanickon in Medford, NJ. He was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan and loved his hard-core music and his two cats, Charlie and Smutz.

He was an only child and survived by his loving parents, Richard and Patricia “Duffy” McDowell. He also leaves behind his large Irish family with multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends who will miss his uniqueness, humor and love.

A Life celebration will be offered for relatives and friends on Saturday, June 17th, at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic city Blvd., Bayville, from 9AM to 12Noon, with a Prayer Service at 11AM.
