Thomas Gaffney Jr.

On February 23, 2026, Thomas Gaffney Jr. of Ocean County, New Jersey, passed away suddenly at the age of 59.

Tom was an alumnus of St. Joseph Grade School and Monsignor Donovan High School, Class of 1985. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and later earned his Masters of Science Degree in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Tom was an Investment Vice President at Prudential Insurance Company for 31 years. Throughout his career, he held many roles, most recently leading risk analysis, reporting, and governance for the company’s investment portfolio. He leaves behind a legacy of practical solutions, candid advice, and a generation of associates who benefited from his knowledge, mentorship, kindness, and integrity.

To his family, Tom was a selfless and caring person who always put the needs of others before his own. He was candid, had a quick sense of humor, and was a proud American patriot with deep appreciation for his Irish heritage. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary, a proud father to his son, Thomas, and found great joy in spending time with the family dog, Charlie.

Tom is predeceased by his father, Thomas J. Gaffney.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his son, Thomas; his mother, Rosalie Gaffney; his sisters, Maureen (Edward) Dressler and Jennifer (Thomas) Lasko; his niece, Daria; and his nephews, Daniel, Ryan, and Thomas.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ. The Funeral will be  Monday March 2, 2026 at 8:30-9:30am in the Funeral Home before celebrating a 10:00am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ, followed by Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Road, Toms River, NJ.
