Sean Patrick Mahon, 57, of Howell, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 after a long and hard fought battle with congestive heart failure. Born on May 14, 1968, Sean grew up in Brick, NJ where he attended Brick Memorial High School. He went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey.
After college, Sean built a career as a pension consultant, where he worked tirelessly to successfully earn the respect of his colleagues as an expert in his field. He earned his Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation and later served on the board of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
Those who knew Sean knew that he was a passionate Phillies fan to his core and that he and never missed an opportunity to see Bruce Springsteen in concert whenever he could. He was an avid golfer, loved all things Disney, and never missed a Marvel release. His passions brought him both excitement and comfort throughout his life and he enjoyed sharing them with those he loved.
Sean is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Valerie (Hamann) Mahon, and three beautiful daughters, Maura (16), Eliza (14), and Fiona (12). Sean was especially proud of his daughters and loved to talk about their accomplishments and goals for the future. He is also survived by his parents, John and Ann (Nicholas) Mahon; his sister and brother in law, Karen (Mahon) and Greg Olsen; his brother in law Alex Frederickson; his sister in law Melanie Hamann; his parents in law James and Patricia (Hamann) Mackie; his nephew Evan Frederickson; his nieces Jessica (Sneddon) Pimm and her husband Kyle Pimm, and Miranda Sneddon; his great-nieces Freyja and Raven Pimm; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathryn (Mahon) Frederickson.
Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 10:00-12:00pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City, Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721.
Sean will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his spirited love for his interests. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
