Samuel H Brethwaite Jr.

Samuel H. Brethwaite. Jr., 95, of Pine Beach passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on April 19, 2023. He was born in 1927 and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He began his Masonic Service on February 9, 1949, and was a member of the Mitchell Lodge 0081 of Philadelphia. He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served during the Korean War. He married his “Sweet Lorraine” on June 13, 1953. They raised their family in Philadelphia until his retirement from Tasty Baking Company (Tastykake) when they permanently moved to Pine Beach.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine, in 2007 and his son-in-law, Ron Bressman, in 2016.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family – three daughters: Lorraine and her husband Tony Abate, Doreen and her husband Rob Brown, and Lynn Bressman. Four grandchildren: Heather and her husband Brandon Cadalzo, Robert and his wife Sabrina Brown, Ryan and his wife Victoria Bressman, and Kyle Bressman. Five great-grandchildren: Willow, Henry, Jonas, Leia and Ava. He is also survived by many extended family and close friends, including his friend and home health aide, Ewura (Cookie) Korsah.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, April 25th, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm, then again on Wednesday, April 26th from 10am to 11am at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard, Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral on Wednesday, April 26th, leaving the funeral home at 11:15am for the burial at Riverside Cemetery, 1001 New Jersey-166, Toms River, NJ 08753.
