After an enjoyable evening playing Rummy-Q with the ladies, Rose Marie Kestner passed away peacefully at home at the age of 85 on November 22nd, 2024. She grew up in Bayonne, NJ. She then moved to Bayville, NJ, where she started her family, was a devoted Den Mom and Girl Scout Leader, and opened the Pine Lake Deli with her husband in Manchester. The family later lived in Colorado and Virginia before returning to Manchester, NJ.
She was an avid crafter. For over 30 years, she and her husband David were a crafting team, frequently selling their creations at craft shows. On the night she passed, the car was packed for a craft show the next day.
As a resident of Manchester, she was active in many groups, including Bocce Social Club, Caritas Guild, Cooking Club, Rummy-Q Club, Table Shuffleboard Club, and others.
She was preceded by her parents, Anne and Anthony Amato, and her son Lyn (Slim) Kestner. She is survived by her husband David, son Keith, daughter Kirstin Ann, her brothers Joseph and Anthony Amato, her nieces and nephews, and her grand-puppy Julia.
A Celebration of Life will be held after the holiday season for family and friends to gather and honor the joy she brought to our lives.
Rose passed away while in the early stages of dementia. As a family, we are grateful that she lived a long full life and was spared from the most difficult years of dementia.
To honor her beautiful life and to help those living with dementia and their families, we are asking friends and family to donate to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of sending flowers.
Donations can be made by visiting Rose’s tribute page on the Alzheimer's Association’s website at http://act.alz.org/goto/RoseKestner
Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ is in charge of arrangements.
