Ronald “Ron” Joseph Weinbel, 78, of Bayville, New Jersey passed away on October 25th, 2024. Ron was born to parents Joseph and Bessie Weinbel in Brooklyn, New York. He was one of six children with siblings Kenneth, Richie, Bobby, Matty, and Marilyn.
He married the love of his life, Nancy, on September 25th, 1965. Together they had three children, Michael, Jeffrey and Donna.
Ron lived a life of service. He was inducted in the United States Marine Corps on January 21st, 1966. He served as a Staff Sargent and spent 13 months in Vietnam in the 1st Division to deploy on the ground in Vietnam. He served as a Rifleman, Small Arms Proof Director. He received the Marksmanship Badge, M-14 Rifle; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnamese Service Medal with one star and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal with device. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on January 19th, 1968. Along with his time in the Marine Corps, Ron served for 10 years in the Army National Guard as well as 13 years in the Marine Reserves. He went on to serve his local community in the Bayville Volunteer EMS and Bayville Volunteer Fire Department for 8 years.
Ron’s career was defined by 25 years of service to the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department in the Corrections Division in which he proudly served alongside his son Mike for many years.
Ron enjoyed fishing at Island Beach State Park, playing the slots in Atlantic City, watching his favorite sports teams (Go Mets! Go Cowboys!) and spending time on his front porch. He enjoyed many holidays with family, always putting together a beautiful Christmas with his wife Nancy for their kids and grandkids every year, never forgetting his famous NJ Lottery scratch off’s on the Christmas tree as gifts to his family. He never missed a single event for his kids or grandkids including school plays, concerts, sports games and so much more…his love and support for his wife, children, and grandchildren was truly endless.
Ron was an active member of the Italian American Association as well as the Marine Corps League and he served as the President of the Police Benevolent Association for 8 years. Some of Ron’s hidden talents include making birdhouses for family & friends and expertly spinning pizza dough in the air! He also not-so-famously invented the Jr. Whopper.
To know Ronald Weinbel was to know a kind, caring, loyal and generous man. He truly lived out the Marines saying “Semper Fidelis” which translates to “Always Faithful.” Ron was indeed always faithful to his family, to his friends and to his country.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Bessie, his sister Marilyn, his brothers Matty, Bobby and Kenny. Ron is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Mike and daughter-in-law Lisa, his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Donna and his daughter Donna as well as his granddaughter Kristen and her husband Andrew, his granddaughter Kelly, and his grandsons Michael, PJ and Kaden. He is also survived by his brother Richie, his sister-in-law’s Joyce and Julie and many other close cousins, nieces, nephews and family.
