Richard H. Maurer

Richard H. Maurer, 89, of Toms River NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2022 after a tough battle with cancer.  Richard was in the US Marine Corp in the early 1950's with an honorable/medical discharge.  He was a Mason and member for over 60 years at Hudson Lodge #72 in Secaucus NJ, and Harmony Lodge #18 in Toms River NJ.  He worked for the railroad for almost 50 years.  After his retirement he became a very proud lifetime member of the Toms River Pleasant Plains fire department.  He was a captain of the fire police, and also a recipient of the fire department president club.  He was a beloved crossing guard for many years at the Washington Street and West Dover elementary schools in Toms River.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Richard was predeceased by his wife Maryann in 2007.  He is survived by his children Donna, Patty, Richard, Roger and Carl, and his loving son-in-laws Scott and Bill and daughter-in-laws Tammy and Christie.  He was a loving grandfather to Christopher, Samantha, Zachary, Emily, Rebecca, Gracie, and Melanie, and great-grandfather to Achilles, Jacob, Darcy, and Levi.  He also leaves behind his good friends Mike and Mary Warren.
