We are sad to share the passing of our beloved and legendary Richard Doscher of Bayville, “Mr. Rich” on March 29, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Jersey City, he has been a resident of Bayville for many years. Richard served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Paiute from 1955-1958. He then went on to be a purchasing agent for Carlson Industries until he and Betty, the love of his life, opened The Dance Centre in 1982 in South Toms River NJ. From its inception, he greeted families every day at the front desk and was the ultimate “dance dad”. Shoe fittings, prop construction, lending an ear, and his quick wit made him a welcomed and comforting site as you walked through the studio doors. He was “just ducky” even on his toughest days. We are positive that he is currently sitting on a boat in heaven and fishing with his son, Craig. He was an amazing husband, dad, pop-pop, and friend.
He lived a life full of adventures for 62 years with his wife Elizabeth Doscher, “Miss Betty”, and his daughters Tami Lowden, Bonnie Dirk, Kerrie Decker, and Sheri Daknis and son Craig Doscher, who passed away in 2009 and his grandchildren Veronica Finch, Richard Lowden, Brianna Lowden, Keryn Dirk, Emerson Dirk, Jeremy Decker, Emily Decker, Zachary Decker, Daniel Decker, and Evan Oris. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Doscher and sister, Joanne Doscher and his daughter’s spouses Thomas Lowden, Dr, Jamie Dirk, John Decker and Dr. Charles Daknis.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 3rd, from 5pm to 8pm at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Thursday April 4th at 9:30am at the funeral home before celebrating a 11am Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River.
