Peter Gannucci, 81, of Bayville, died on October 11, 2023. He was born and raised in Jersey City, In 1969 Peter and Barbara moved to Bergenfield where they raised their 2 daughters. He then settled in Bayville in 2000. Mr. Gannucci was an electrical contractor employed with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Contractors, Union Local #164 of Jersey City. Retiring in the late 90’s after many years of service. Peter was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Jersey City. He is a die hard Yankee fan and Giants fan. He was very athletic and a track star at school. He enjoyed bowling, bocce and his Friday night card games. He was an active parishioner at St. Barnabas Church in Bayville and served as church usher. He also was a member of the St. Barnabas Knights of Columbus Council #8603. Mr. Gannucci proudly served his country in the US Army. He had been predeceased by his loving daughter, Michelle Furnari in 2017.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 56 years, Barbara. Also surviving is his loving daughter Monica Castagno and her husband Louis, his son-in-law Chris Furnari; four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Castagno, Michael Castagno, Stephanie Furnari and Matthew Furnari, also his brother Michael Gannucci and his wife Jackie and his sister-in-law Maryann Rubestello and her husband Robert.
Visiting hours for relatives and friends will be offered on Monday, Oct. 16th, from 2pm to 5pm at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Service Tuesday, 9:30am at the funeral home before celebrating a 11am Funeral Mass at, St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville. Cremation will be private.
Peter's favorite sentiment was “all I need is my wife and family and I have everything”. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory to: American Heart Association, (heart.org), would be greatly appreciated.
