Peter A. DeLuise 1928 - 2023
It is with great sadness the family of Peter A. DeLuise, 95, announce his passing on July 30, 2023.
Pete was a native of Jersey City and later moved with his wife Joan to Lyndhurst then settled in Rutherford to raise their 7 children – Judy, Linda, Pete, Tom, Mary, Jim, and Chris.
He was a proud Navy veteran having served on the USS Sevier, USS Topeka, USS Bremerton and the USS Iowa. He was an active member of the Rutherford community volunteering 45 years to the Rutherford Little League, founding member of the St. Mary’s Father’s Club and President of the St. Mary’s Bingo Club.
Pete loved his family most of all. He lived for family gatherings, religiously attending sporting events, birthday parties or just spending time together.
He was a 45 year employee of Town Motors in Englewood, NJ.
Pete was preceded in death by his son Pete (2020), and sons-in-law Bill Burns and Rich Pomo.
Pete is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan. His children Judy Pomo, Linda Burns, Tom DeLuise (Cathy), Mary Critelli (Tom), Jim DeLuise, and Chris DeLuise (Wendy).
11 Grandchildren – Michael Pomo (Stephanie), Tom Critelli (Chelsea), Jaime Pomo, Nicole DeLuise, Danielle Critelli, Katie Parada (Del), Anthony Critelli, Bryan DeLuise, Evan DeLuise, Garrett Van Blarcom-DeLuise, Graicen Van Blarcom-DeLuise. 3 Great Grandchildren – Matteo Parada, Lucy Pomo and Bella Parada. Brother-in-law Robert Boninio and nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023. From 4pm – 8pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd. Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral will be Friday, Aug. 4th beginning at 9:30am in the funeral home before leaving top celebrate an 11am Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church in Bayville.
