Paul Allen LaBombard

Paul Allen LaBombard, 79, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on July 30, 2026. Born in a Vermont farmhouse a few miles from the Canadian border, Paul lived most of his life in Bayville, NJ, where he and his wife raised their family of five children. The youngest of eight surviving children, Paul — like all of his siblings — grew up working on the family farm owned and managed by his parents, Eugene and Ella. After high school, Paul volunteered for the US Army, serving with the Army Signal Corps in Italy from 1965-1968, and serving in the US Army Reserve until 1971. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and was rated Expert in rifle marksmanship — and would, until the end of his life, recall memories about his friendships forged and adventures shared while in the service.

Paul was a tireless, steady provider for his family. He worked for more than 30 years as a cable splicer for the phone company — and would most often return from long workdays only to immediately attend to household chores and time with his children. He was wholly invested in his family and their lives, rarely complained, and consistently displayed a positive, optimistic, and encouraging attitude to those he loved. After a short retirement from the phone company, he returned to work as a school bus driver — a job he held until he was no longer able to drive. He was a dog-lover, a history buff, the family road trip designated driver, a die-hard New York Rangers and Cleveland Indians fan, and NASCAR enthusiast (even attending several race car driving experiences).

Through the vast majority of his years, the center of his world was his wife, Judy. They met as teenagers at a dance at Fort Monmouth and were at each other’s sides for close to 60 years after. They spent their marriage traveling on cruises with loved ones, applauding at countless family milestones, and returning often to Vermont to show their children their family roots. Paul was the patient calm to Judy’s intensity, and she was his loyal caregiver for the past several years, as he faced the effects of Parkinson’s Disease with the same steadfast determination he displayed in all areas of his life.

Four months to the day after Judy’s death, Paul passed away peacefully, surrounded by children and grandchildren. He leaves behind a grateful family who miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his wife, Judith Ann (Hoffman) LaBombard; parents, Eugene and Ella (Barkyoumb) LaBombard; grandson Andrew; siblings Cecelia, Lawrence, Theresa Gale, Mary (Joseph) Thomas, and Gloria Ferland; and sisters-in-law Dale and Grace.

He is survived by his daughter Laurie (Eloino) Soto & grandchildren Sebastian, Eva, and Sydney; his daughter Amy (Bryon) Dey & granddaughter Marissa; his son Matthew (Jiselle) LaBombard, grandchildren by Amy LaBombard, Matthew Jr., Ryan, and Ashley, & great grandson Brayden; his son Mark (Stephane) LaBombard, granddaughter Emily, & great grandchildren Logan, Landon, Ella, Nikoli, and Rami; his son John LaBombard; and his siblings Bird, Clement Ferland, Francis, Eugene (Louise), and Carol (Douglas) Austin.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 5:00-8:00pm,at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral will be held on Wednesday August 12, 2026 with additional viewing from 8:30-9:15am at the Funeral home before leaving to celebrate a 9:30am Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville. The burial will follow with full Military Honors at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Vet Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd., Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
