Patricia “Hughes” Maiuri, 86, of Ocean Gate. died peacefully on April 11, 2026, with her family at her side. Born in the Bronx, she graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1957 and graduated from Claremont Secretarial School, also in Ridgewood. She was diligent with numbers and worked as a bookkeeper before marrying Vincent. With her business experience, they moved to Saddle Brook, and owned and operated a soda fountain business, which were popular at that time, “Township Fountain”. Because she loved the Jersey shore, she and her husband Vincent moved to Ocean Gate in 1981 and owned and operated Vinny’s Quick Stop delicatessen there. She also wintered in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Patricia was very generous and passionate about feeding the hungry and devoted herself to helping with various food pantries for those in need wherever she could, especially with Breakout Ministry Fellowship Church in Ocean Gate, St. Barnabas Church and the Faith Community Methodist Church, both in Bayville. Pat has helped feeding the needy and homeless from just a few and now has grown into hundreds due to her generous and diligent work. Mrs. Maiuri was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Vincent in 2019 and by her beloved son Thomas in 2020.
Surviving are two children, Vanessa Machuga and her husband Jimmy and Vincent Jr.: two grandchildren, Vinny and Jimmy, a great granddaughter Jenel; six sisters, Kathy Handel, Ginny DeNinno and her husband David, Nancy Corry and her husband Kevin, Janet Hughes and her companion Dave, Chrissie Hughes and Margaret Graiff and her husband Matt.
Visiting hours for relatives and friends will be offered on Wednesday, April15th, from 3pm to 6pm, with a Prayer Service at 5:30pm, at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Thursday, 9am at the funeral home leaving at 10am for the entombment at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson. In lieu of flowers, donations to: St. Barnabas Church “Food Pantry”, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville NJ 08721, would be appreciated.
