Neil Haffey, age 77, of Brick, NJ, passed away on May 2, 2025, with his loving wife Patti and 4 adoring daughters by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Neil lived a life of service, dedication, and love for family and friends.
Neil proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. military in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He chose a 30 year career of Firefighting with the East Orange Fire Department and retired as a Fire Captain.
A man of many passions, Neil enjoyed family parties, antique bottle collections, pranks, gadgets, photography, creating memes, landing himself in FaceBook jail, traveling with family and friends but most of all, spending time by his pond with Patti, toasting “I love you” with coffee to start their day.
He was predeceased by his mother Lillian Grimmel, father Edward R Doyle, adoptive parents Alice and Cornelius Haffey, mother-in-law Geraldine Sebring, father-in-law William Sebring, grandson Shawn Haffey, and sister Eileen U’Glay.
Neil is survived by his loving wife Patricia and his daughters , Diana and partner Jeff, Kristina and husband Thomas, Erin and husband Shawn, and Caitlin and husband Thomas. He is a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Neil R. & Ashley, Dallas & Eden, Paige & Cameron, TJ, Chris & Kayla, Owen, Aiden, Thomas, Connor, Patrick and Logan. He is blessed with 4 great grand daughters: Zoey, Leia, Kira, and Remi. Neil is also survived by his brother Edward Doyle. He is brother in law to Kathie & Al Stier, Margaret & Ed Buss and Maria & John Ferrara. He also has many nieces and nephews.
Neil will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. This earth lost a humble hero but Heaven has gained a mischievous angel.
There will be a Memorial Gathering for family and friends on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 9:00-10:45am at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721 with Military Honors at 10:00am followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd, Bayville, NJ 08721 at 11:00am.
