Marion Gaffney, 89, of Bayville, died peacefully at home on April 12, 2021, surrounded by her
loving family. Born in Burnbank-Hamilton, Scotland, she lived many years in Burnbank before
moving to the United States and living in Kearny, New Jersey. She then moved to Bayville in
1958 where she lived out the rest of her years. Marion was an active member of the St. Barnabas
Church where she was a president of the Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharist Minister, a CCD
teacher, and a Comfort Minister. She also worked for the St. Barnabas Rectory as a housekeeper
for 26 years. Marion enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society where she met many of her
lifetime friends.
Marion was predeceased by her husband Charles of 50 years, daughter Charlene Gaffney-Smith,
and son Kevin Gaffney.
Surviving are her children, Gordon and his wife Fran; Bryan; Michael and his wife Marie;
Colleen Gaffney-Eno and her husband Tim; as well as her grandchildren: April, Michael, Ian,
Katey, Stewart, Matthew, Duncan, Joseph, Michaela, and Linsey. Followed by her great
grandchildren: Charles, Aidan, Calvin, and an angel Alexander.
Viewing hours will be Thursday, April 15th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mastapeter Memorial
Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at St. Barnabas
Church at 11 a.m., followed by the burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, dontaions in Marion's memory to; St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org), would be appreciated. Condolences can be sent to www.maastapetermemorialhome.com.
