Kenneth M. Mekart, 78, of Bayville, died peacefully at home on September 9, 2024. Born in Teaneck and raised in Westwood, he has been a resident of Bayville since 1970. Kenneth was an Industrial Electrician employed with DPT Pharmaceutical Company, formerly PACO Corporation, in Lakewood with over 40 years of service. Mr. Mekart had proudly served his country in the US Navy serving as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Shangri-La during the Vietnam War. He was a man who could fix anything, was an avid car enthusiast, constantly cherishing his grandchildren and loving simple pleasures like enjoying a glass of wine with his beloved wife Susan. He was predeceased by his lovely wife of 50 years Susan in 2017, amongst other cherished family members.
Surviving are his two devoted daughters, Michelle Higgins and her husband Joseph and Hallie Anne Santarsiero and her husband Stephen: also, his cherished grandchildren Harrison, Celia and Amelia Grace.
Visiting hours will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 14th from 2pm to 5pm, with a Prayer Service at 4pm, in the Mastapeter memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory to: Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org), would be appreciated.
