Karen A. Berge, 79, of Bayville NJ passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 10, 2022, with her family by her side.
“Your Wings were ready, but our Hearts were not.”
Karen was born in Englewood to the late John and Gloria Rumpf, she was raised in Ridgefield NJ where she met and married Ronald Berge in 1963. She and Ron happily spent the following 6 decades together, devoting themselves to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In 1973 they relocated the family to Bayville and she worked as a Macy’s sales associate for 26 years in the Ocean County Mall. Together with her beloved husband, she liked travelling, hunting for interesting antiques, as well as quiet evenings at home.
In her spare time, Karen loved tending to her garden and cuddling with her Siamese cats. She was a member of the Laureate Nu Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and always enjoyed a good book. She was very creative and took great pride & joy in decorating the home for each season to celebrate with family.
She is survived by her husband Ron; four children, Bill Berge and his wife Marion, Gary Berge and his partner Birgit Leib, Guy Berge and his wife Karen, and Jennifer Holland; seven grandchildren, Justin, Heather, Allison, Janie, Allura, Jay and Ken; two great-grandchildren, Brixon and Maeve; as well as her two sisters, Judy Eddy and Linda Urban, plus many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother Tom Rumpf.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Karen’s life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20th, from 2-4pm, with a Prayer Service at 3:30pm, at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville NJ 08721.
