Judith LaBombard Obituary

Judith (Judy) Ann Hoffman LaBombard, 79, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on March 30, 2026.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Judy lived most of her life in Bayville, NJ, where she and her husband raised their family of five children. A graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, she worked for nearly four decades as a registered nurse providing care to mothers and newborns at her local hospital, Community Medical Center, where she formed lifelong friendships with fellow nurses. After retirement, she continued using her nursing skills in service of her community, working as a health aide for children with complex medical needs, accompanying and offering them one-on-one support on school buses — a job in which she developed a fierce devotion to the children she supported.

Raised by formidable Catholic parents, an Irish mother and German father, Judy was a lifelong Jersey girl who loved the beach, spending many days from childhood through adulthood at the shore. She also loved traveling — often embarking on cruises to warm weather destinations with loved ones — and adopted her husband’s love of his home state Vermont, forging close ties with his siblings and extended family and helping organize many LaBombard family reunions at Lake Champlain. Judy never met a dog she didn’t like better than most people — a trait she passed onto her children. She was a connoisseur of creative recipes (bringing “spinach balls” to many a gathering) and not a single family birthday passed without her rendition of “Happy Birthday” sung into a morning phone call. For the better part of 20 years, Judy provided support and care for her aging mother — and to her final days, she remained unwaveringly dedicated to her family.

Above all, Judy was devoted to her husband Paul, who she called “the single best thing that ever happened to me.” They met at a dance at Fort Monmouth and spent the following nearly 60 years building a life and a family who now miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents, Margaret (Kearney) Hoffman and Joseph J. Hoffman, her sister, Monica Hoffman, and brother Joseph Hoffman, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Allen LaBombard, married September 28, 1968 — her daughter Laurie (Eloino) Soto & grandchildren Sebastian, Eva, and Sydney; her daughter Amy (Bryon) Dey & granddaughter Marissa; her son Matthew (Jiselle) LaBombard, grandchildren by Amy LaBombard, Matthew Jr., Ryan, and Ashley, & great grandson Brayden; her son Mark (Stephane) LaBombard, grandchildren Emily and Andrew, & great grandchildren Logan, Landon, Ella, Nikoli, and Rami; and her son John LaBombard.
