Josephine Waddleton Sawyer Cronen, age 90, passed away on January 29, 2023, after a brief illness. She was a resident of New Jersey most of her life before moving to Oneida, TN to live with her daughter. She also lived in Brodheadsville PA. Born in Jersey City; Josephine was involved in local politics in the 1960’s. She was a member of Women of Irish Heritage, Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary of Toms River, and the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion.
Josephine is predeceased by her parents Thomas Waddleton and Rose Sharkey. She is also predeceased by her Brothers George, William and Thomas Waddleton and her sisters, Anna Lewis Marie Lehe and Beatrice Waddleton, her first husband William T. Sawyer, her son Glenn Sawyer and her second husband John E. Cronen and stepdaughter Maureen Cronen. She is survived by her brother Bernard Waddleton and sister Kathleen Kent, children William Sawyer and his wife Theresa of Iselin NJ, Brian Sawyer of Saylorsburg PA., and daughter Patricia Minor of Oneida, TN., as well as stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister- in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Sunday, February 5th from 1pm-4pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral Monday, 8:30am at the funeral home before celebrating a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Barnabas Church in Bayville. Burial to follow for a 11:30am arrival at the New Jersey Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown.
