It is with great sadness that The Glinka Family announces the passing of their Dad and Pop Pop in his home in Bayville on December 6th, 2023.
Joseph Thomas Glinka, born on October 23, 1952, grew up in Linden, NJ. He attended Linden High School and later worked as a technician at Petro Fuel until his retirement in 2018. In addition to being a devout Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Ravens fan, Joe was an avid reader, engrossing himself in all topics related to American History. While he enjoyed his morning walks and trout fishing, he had a unique ability to find beauty in the little things in life. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, whether attending his grandchildren's sports games or playing a game of Parcheesi. He was a member of The Kenilworth Gospel Chapel and volunteered there for years, where he loved working with youth groups of all ages at Pine Bush Bible Camp and Friday Night Kids Club.
Joe is survived by his daughters: Joellen Roder, her husband, Frank, Jade, Kacey and Morgan Glinka. His grandchildren Darian, Nadia, Aidan, Joel, Ty, and Rowan. His brother Eddie and wife Regina Glinka, and his best furry friend, Coco. He is predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Laurie Glinka, his parents Stella and Walter, and his sisters, Arlene Dittimer and Linda Fiorini. Joe was surrounded by the love of his family, much the same way he gave love to all that he met. His passion for social justice, fighting hate and protecting our earth will live on through the wisdom he shared with his family. A man of great integrity, the kindness and compassion that Joe shared freely throughout his life was a gift to all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at The Kenilworth Gospel Chapel at 557 Newark Ave. Kenilworth, NJ 07033 on Saturday December 16th at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Joseph’s memory to: Democracy Now! @ Democracynow.org. Mastapeter Memorial Home, Bayville is in charge of arrangements.
