Joseph E. Polo, age 93 of Bayville, NJ, passed away on Monday, October 7th, 2024. Joseph was born in Jersey City to the late Andrew Polo and Catherine Morton. Joe grew up in Teaneck New Jersey. His family moved to Greenwood Lake New Jersey when he was 16 years old.
Joe loved Greenwood Lake and spent most of his time racing his boats up and down the lake. While living there he got involved in amateur boxing and spent a lot of time at Brown’s hotel, where he got to know a lot of professional boxers who trained there. Joe loved reminiscing about those times and had many stories to share. Joe played a lot of tennis with his friends, loved going to car shows, watching sports on TV especially women’s college basketball, and attending mass every Sunday.
Most of all he loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather. Joe was a teamster with local 807 and drove for Nabisco for 30 years retiring in 1993.
Joe is predeceased by his beloved wife Anna in 2019 his son Andrew in 2017 and his son Jeffrey in 1979. He is survived by his loving daughter Joann Tonjann her husband Jay, his grandchildren, Lauren Davis, (Matthew) Karolyn, Rogers (Daniel) and John Tonjann, his great grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Isabel Davis, and Noah Rogers.
