Joseph Ippolito Obituary

Joseph Ippolito, 93, of Bayville, died peacefully at home surrounded by his living and deceased family, friends and animals. Born and raised in Newark NJ where he met his love Elizabeth “Betty” Ochs, they married and moved to the small town of Bayville, NJ where he built their dream home in the woods. He loved traveling with his wife and family, particularly his trip across the United States.  He enjoyed organic gardening and woodworking. He was an avid golfer, bowler and skier. He met many singers and celebrities at the Garden State Art Center and was on TV, Bowling for Dollars. An environmentalist before his time. Known to have good parties. Everyone was invited to his house for any holiday or if they just needed a place to stay.  Always a great public speaker and joke teller. A forever Eagles fan.

Employed by the Garden State Parkway in 1958, eventually becoming the Director of Signs and Lines. In 1969, he won an award for his idea to place mileage indicators on all trailblazer signs to help motorists find the nearest Parkway entrance.  He was also a personal tax accountant.      

Surviving is his daughter Tracy Mazzara, her husband Mark Mazzara; his grandchildren, Sebastian Ippolito, Eva Mazzara and Giandiego Mazzara. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Predeceased by his father, Joseph Ippolito, Mother Lillan Mann (Ippolito, Scarpa), his wife Elizabeth (Ochs) Ippolito, son Glen Ippolito, brothers George Ippolito and Donald Ippolito; sister in-laws, Helen Gilbert, Beverly Ippolito and Salomea Ippolito.

Funeral services and a memorial are private under the direction of Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville.
