Joseph Bruscino Jr. Obituary

Joseph Bruscino Jr, 80, of Bayville, NJ died peacefully on Monday February 17, 2025.  Born in Jersey City, he lived in Little Ferry before moving to Bayville in 1958.  Joe, as he preferred to be called worked for over 32 years for the Borough of Pine Beach, retiring in 2004 as the Superintendent of Public Works.  He believed in giving back to his community.  Joe was a lifetime member of the Pine Beach Firehouse.  He also was active in the Pine Beach Chapel where he served as past President, Vice-President, and Treasurer for the chapel.  He was a long time member of Pine Beach’s Senior Men’s Club and an avid pinochle player with the guys.  Joe also served his local community by being a past member of the Berkeley Township Board of Adjustment.   At the time of his passing, Joe, was a member of the Berkeley Township Sewage Authority, the Berkeley Township Republican Club, and an Ocean County Republican County Committeeman.

Joe loved a day at Monmouth Park or time spent at Favorites with his friends George and Eric.  He also, loved his morning ritual at Oh What a Bagel with his dear friend Ski, who he described as the best friend anyone could ever hope for.  Joe took pride in his home and his yard.  Driving his riding lawn mower brought him much enjoyment as did tinkering with his fish pond, growing cucumbers so he could make his famous pickles, and putzing around in the garage.  He was grateful he got to travel throughout the years and loved all things Key West.  Joe loved history and testing his skills nightly watching Jeopardy.  He also loved watching sports especially his NY Jets, Miami Hurricanes, and high school wrestling.  Joe was outgoing and made friends everywhere he went.  He was known for wearing his signature Hawaiian shirts to all the outings, dressing up in all green (including face pant some years) for St. Patrick’s Day despite not having an ounce of Irish blood, his laughter, and for his endless devotion to his family.

You see Joe’s greatest source of pride was his family.  All of his family.  He married the love of his life Barbara in 1972 and together they had over 50 years of wedded bliss.  Together they raised two daughters, Becky and Tiffany. He would tell you any chance he got how proud he was of all they have accomplished in their lives.  He was so happy when Becky and her husband Ryan, welcomed home Alex.  And he was overjoyed when Tiffany earned the rank of Sergeant.  He never stopped bragging about his Grandson.  He would tell everyone and anyone how smart, athletic, and kind Alex is.  Joe loved his family with every fiber of his being and all he did in life was to ensure that his family had a great life and future.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jesteen Bruscino, his brother Robert Bruscino, mother-in-law Ida Phillips, brother-in-law Bruce Phillips, and sister-in-law Dolores Bruscino.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Rebecca and her husband Ryan Setaro, daughter Tiffany Bruscino, grandson Alexander Setaro, nephews Justin and Stephan Bruscino, sister-in-law Lynne Phillips, and sister-in-law Linda Phillips.
