John Semanchick Obituary

John Semanchick, 80, passed away on December 27, 2021, at his home in Bayville, NJ. Born in Frackville, PA on February 8, 1941, he was the son of the late Stephen and Ella Kudla Semanchick. John attended West Mahanoy Township schools and resided in Frackville, with his parents, until he joined the Army in 1959.  In May of 1966, John married the love of his life, Rose Ann (Virga).  Together, they raised three sons and watched their families grow. John and Rose Ann spent most of their married life in the Bayville, NJ area. John was a meticulous contractor and maintenance worker who took a lot of pride in not only his work but in helping all his sons and their families with their many home projects. John loved to keep busy and refused to retire. Almost up to the end, he was employed by the Central Regional School District as a maintenance worker servicing many different buildings in the district. John was proud of his Army service time, where he was a cook, and continued his service commitment through being a member of the Army Reserves for over 17 years.

John was very proud of his Eastern European roots. He loved to cook and spent much time perfecting many different Ukrainian dishes that his parents and siblings taught him. He also loved helping anyone in need of maintenance work done around their homes. John was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching both College and NFL games whenever they were on TV. He was a muscle head of old cars and used to share stories about his black 1970 Chevelle SS and his Gold 1967 Impala SS, which were both prize possessions of his.

Preceding him in death was his wife Rose Ann (Virga) Semanchick in August of 2020. Also preceding him in death, in addition to his loving parents, were his siblings:  Mary (Semanchick) Soucheck; Michael Semanchick; Anna (Semanchick) Mack; Julia (Semanchick) Gera; George Semanchick; Helen (Semanchick) Watunya; and infant brother, Nicholas Semanchick.

John is survived by his three loving sons and their families:  Johnny Stephen Semanchick and wife Karen; Vincent James Semanchick; and Philip Michael Semanchick and wife Jennifer; and his six grandchildren: Jonathan, Rachel, Adam, Vincent, Leah, and Madelyn. John is also survived by one sister, Eve (Semanchick) Alshon of Frackville, PA, along with many nieces and nephews. John leaves behind his loving, dedicated German Shepard, Rascal.
