It is with great sadness we announce John D. Houghkirk Sr. 70, passed away in his home on the morning of Tuesday, February 7th of 2023. John was a lifelong resident of Berkeley Township. He enrolled in the Marines after graduating Central Regional High School as a member of the class of 1970. He was known to be an excellent drummer and played in local bands for three decades. John worked for the Lakehurst Naval Base for 19 years and became a licensed electrician. He finished his career working in electronics at TDK-Lambda Americas of Neptune.
John was predeceased by his father: Francis Houghkirk, mother: Ruth Paxton and brother Robert Houghkirk. The beloved husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife (Stephanie Chupinski), sons (John and Josh), grandchildren (Naomi, Lillian, Ellie and Esther) and daughters-in-law (Sachiyo Takahara and Brenda Dunfee).
There will be a viewing at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721, on Saturday February 11th from 1PM to 4PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 13th at St. Barnabas Church of Bayville at 11AM with the burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
