John “Butch” Helstowski, 77, of Brick, NJ passed away on May 9, 2026. Born in Norfolk, VA and raised in East Brunswick, NJ, he moved to the Sylvan Lake section of Bayville in 1971. Butch was a salesman for 2 Guys in Brick, Price Rite in Toms River and at Woodhaven Lumber, Lakewood for many years.  

Butch enjoyed coaching various youth sports, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing and  coaching.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. He was a huge Yankee fan and tolerated the JETS. He was a long-time active member of the Bayville Elks #2394. 

Butch is predeceased by his devoted wife Maria in 2009, his daughter Shannon and his son Joseph and his mother Susan Salerno. Surviving are his two sons; John Helstowski and his wife Kathy and Dean A. Helstowski and his wife Sheila, four grandchildren Justin Helstowski, Alyssa McLafferty and her husband Michael, Dean C. Helstowski and Jared Helstowski, two great grandchildren; Kaia and Shay, two sisters, Linda DeAngelo and her husband Paul, and Judy Pergerson, his mother-in-law, Natalie Fernandes and sister-in-law, Lisa Fernandes.  

Viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00-8:00pm with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ. Viewing Friday, May 15, 2026, from 9:30-10:30am at the Funeral Home followed by an Entombment at 11:00am, Ocean County Memorial Park, 280 Wells Mills Rd., Waretown, NJ.
