John A. Connolly IV, 54, of Bayville passed peacefully surrounded by family on July 15, 2021. Born in Trenton and raised in Lincroft, he has been a resident of Bayville for many years. He had been predeceased by his parents John and Joanne Connolly. John attended the Christian Brothers Academy on a full wrestling scholarship, as well as Red Bank Catholic before heading to The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Clearly a determined individual, John was Operations Manager for nearly 30 years at Builders' General Supply in Toms River. Through his work, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and made many deep and meaningful connections and friendships throughout the years. John was very athletic and loved to ski and mountain bike. He craved adventure and thrived on spending time outside with his family and friends, especially on the many beautiful biking trails in New Jersey.
One of his favorite quotes was "we fight adversity together" and this shined through by his devotion to his friends whom many will agree that John's story has inspired them to improve their lives. Almost 10 years ago, John committed to a life change thanks to a higher power and a group of friends that are now his family. He became the best version of himself which allowed him to be a guiding light for others in his community. His courage and will power were infectious to all who knew and loved him. His leadership created change and his legacy will live on.
John is survived by his loving wife Caroline and by his four sons, Nick, Dillon, Jake and Joe. He is survived by his brother David and Margot, his brother-in-law Patrick and Laura and his sister-in-law Kelly and Mike: also several nieces and nephews and his many loving extended family and friends especially Marge and Joyce.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Tuesday, July 20th, from 5pm to 8pm with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm, at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org), would be graciously appreciated.
