Joanne M. Maertens-Ertel, 76, of Bayville, NJ passed away suddenly on March 3, 2025.
Joanne was born in Newark, NJ for many years before moving to Bayville in 1976. She worked at Jersey Shore Saving and Loan in Toms River then worked for Santander in Manchester, NJ for many years.
Joanne loved her family more than anything. She loved her hometown of Newark, NJ. What was most important to her and made her very proud was her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. What made her the happiest was when she was at their sports events, and family gatherings. She also loved her dogs.
Mrs. Maertens-Ertel is predeceased by her first husband Jack Maertens Sr in 1987, her mother Josephine Rotunda in 1994, and her son Jack Maertens Jr. In 2024. Surviving is her beloved husband of 27 years William J. Ertel III, three children David Maertens and wife Donna, Brian Maertens and wife Michele, and Jennifer Amico and husband Nathan, thirteen grandchildren, Marisa Maertens, Gina Maertens, Brian Maertens Jr, Dylan Maertens, Nicholas Maertens, Abigail Maertens, Nathan Amico Jr., Dominic Amico, Desiree Amico, Jack Maertens III, Tristan Maertens, Ashley Maertens, and Amber Maertens, and four great grandchildren, Lucas Hazelet, Avery Hazelet, Lilliana Amico, and Nathan Amico III.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 9:00-10:00am at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721, followed by a burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery 62 Cedar Grove Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753.
