Joanne Coughlin Obituary

Joanne Coughlin, 65, of Bayville, NJ passed away on November 16, 2024. Born in East Orange, NJ and lived many years Point Pleasant and grew up in Keyport, NJ.

Joanne most recently worked at De La Salle Hall serving the Brothers of the Christian Schools as Activity Director. She was incredibly fulfilled by creating meaningful moments for the Brothers who lived a life of sacrifice and service. She dedicated her time to ensuring the residents of all the skilled nursing facilities where she worked had the ultimate enrichment experience and that they felt seen and loved. Joanne also had successful careers in sales and real estate. In the 90’s, she and her husband ran a beloved antique store called the “Bargain Outlet” on Route 88 in Brick.

Joanne raised a family of three children with her husband. As a devoted mother, family was always number one. She grew up in a large, Irish Catholic family of eight with strong moral character. Her service as a mother, wife, sister, and daughter was of utmost importance and she had the integrity of a saint.

She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs and birds. Her dogs Rebel and Cooper were precious and spoiled, as were all her pets over the years. She rescued many dogs and bred show- quality Chihuahuas. She was an interior decorator at heart and would help anyone who asked. She was often engaged in redecorating and renovations with her husband around their home or that of a friend or family member. She made the world a better place through the support of her family, pets included, her residents, and the beauty God gave her an eye for. Her legacy lives on in the acts of kindness and sacrifice that were her lifeblood.

Predeceased by her mother Margretta M. Gross, her father Robert Gross, and her brothers; Christopher Gross and Robert Gross. Surviving is her husband Daniel Coughlin, son Nicholas R. Coughlin and his partner Raul Vazquez-Santillian, son Jordan Coughlin and his wife Vanessa Coughlin and stepson Makhi J. Owens-Chan, daughter Carly E. McGregor and her husband John Thomas McGregor III and children Finley E. McGregor and (Tavish) John Thomas McGregor IV, and her siblings, Kathleen Andrejco, Thomas Gross, Nancy Gross, Stephen Gross, and Lisa Gross.
