Joan McAleavey Obituary

Joan Marie McAleavey, 88, of Toms River, died peacefully on October 29, 2021. Born and raised in Kearny, she lived and raised her family in Fords before retiring to Toms River many years ago. Mrs. McAleavey had been employed as a sales associate with Macy’s Department Store in Menlo Park many years before retiring. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She had been predeceased by her husband John in 2011.

Surviving are six children, Maureen Gibson and her husband Tom, Nancy Robinson and her husband Chip, Patrice Waznak and her husband Paul, John McAleavey and his wife Susan, Daniel McAleavey and his wife Carol, and Michael McAleavey and his wife Elaine. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Paul, Julia, Emeline, Daniel Jr., Gwendolyn, Michael, John Jr., Jake, Molly and Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 3rd., from 5pm to 8pm at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Mass Thursday at 9:30am at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville. Burial will at NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown NJ 08562 on Monday, Nov. 8th at 10:30am. The procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30am.
