Jean Longo [nee Kalbarczyk] of Forked River passed away peacefully at home on May 5th, 2021. Jean was a lively 96 years old.
Born in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania, Jean raised her family in Union, New Jersey, with her loving husband of 65 years, Salvatore. In Heaven, Jean joins Sal.Jean is survived by her loving children Richard Longo (Geraldine), Barbara Lanigan (Peter), and Joyce Berlinski (Anthony), and eight grandchildren David, Alexander (Hallie), Anthony, Brian, Andrew, Catherine, Patrick, and Steven.
While Jean held many part-time jobs, her greatest fulfillment came from being a wife, mother and grandmother. Jean and Sal enjoyed gardening, vacations to Florida, a memorable cruise to Bermuda and day trips to Atlantic City together. Jean loved traveling to spend time with family at sports games, plays, award ceremonies, graduations, and weddings. Even in her 90s, Jean remained an active participant in their lives, relishing in each important moment and accomplishment. Jean and her grandchild Anthony had a special bond, gathering to watch virtual church every week during the pandemic.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 10th from 4-7pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home at 270 Atlantic City Blvd(Route 9), Bayville, NJ. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, May 11th at 10:00am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Forked River, NJ, with entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations of plants to create a memorial garden in Jean’s honor. Donations to Special Olympics New Jersey in Jean’s honor would also be greatly appreciated. Jean will be dearly missed, and her spirit will live on through her lively and loving family.
