Janice A. Rossman, 71, of Bayville passed away peacefully May 13 with her children by her side. Born April 4 in Framingham, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Edith Hoyle. Janice grew up in Holliston, MA before moving to Riverhead, New York in her teen years, finally settling in Bayville in 1971.
Janice had a passion for working with young school aged children and loved helping them develop and learn. She worked for the Berkeley Township School District as a Special Education Teacher Aide for 20 years, before moving on to daycare work. It was not uncommon for her to run into grown students around town that recognized her. Jan was the matriarch of the family, keeping tabs on everyone and passing along old family stories to the next generation. Her siblings, children and especially her grandchildren were her life. She was also a die hard Disney fan and her family often teased her for getting emotional when she would visit the Magic Kingdom or see Mickey Mouse.
Janice is survived by her son, Michael Aschenbach and his fiance Anna Birdsall of Haddonfield and her daughter, Christine Volpicella and her husband Leonard of Bayville; her beloved grandchildren Jordan Aschenbach (her "Silly Boy"), Kiley Aschenach (her "Precious Girl") and Leo Volpicella (her "Little Bear"). Also surviving are her siblings Paul Hoyle, Richard Hoyle, and Nancy Mistretta.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert Rossman and her twin sister Anne Hoyle.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 23 from 1pm to 3pm followed by a catholic blessing at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard, Bayville, NJ 08721.
