James Schiller, (75, born January 31, 1948), of Ocean Gate, NJ passed away on February 15th, 2023 after a brief illness. “Jim” grew up in Clark, NJ and graduated from Arthur L. Johnson High School. He was a self-taught mechanical professional who worked his way up from his role as an auto mechanic to becoming a service writer for several large car dealership organizations during his career. Jim was also an entrepreneur who operated his own business, S & S Sporting Goods on Raritan Road in Clark, in partnership with his brother “Charlie” for several years. In 1983, he and his family moved to Ocean Gate where they lived in “Paradise Hotel” as he called it, with his beloved wife of 54 years, Karen (nee Simanoski). A DIY professional, Jim also worked as a handyman for several years assisting many local retirees. Jim was also a master gardener who cultivated many different plant varieties on his property around his Koi pond. During his retirement, the “Duke of Fluke” enjoyed fishing all around the Jersey Shore in search of the hot bite as well as Florida during annual extended vacations. To say he was an avid fisherman would be an understatement of his passion for the sport and his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge and experience with others. A lifelong New York Giants fan and season-ticket holder, Jim was able to attend many games with his family and enjoyed sharing the fun and excitement of cheering on Big Blue, win or lose.
Jim was a devoted husband, supportive and loving father and a strong man of faith. He was a true original personality who will not be forgotten by the many extended family, co-workers and friends who had the privilege to know him. He is predeceased by his parents Stella (nee Urbanik) and Charles, his brothers Walter and Charles and his sister Lenora. He leaves behind his wife, Karen (nee Simanoski), his son James and his wife Kelli-Ann, his daughter Georgette and her husband Brian and his son Eric and his wife Sefi. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kate, Ryan Sydney, Ethan, Lukas and Peter.
To honor Jim, a memorial service will be held at Mastapeter Memorial home in Bayville, NJ at a future date to be determined.
