James Carway Obituary

James (Jim) Carway passed unexpectedly at home on July 22, 2021. Jim was born in Bronx County NY, where he grew up before moving to Morris County NJ in 1970 to raise his family, and later retire to Bayville, NJ in 1992. Jim attended Iona College NY earned a BS in History and Pace University NY where he received a BA in Accounting. Mr. Carway proudly served his country in the US Army, trained as a combat infantryman, during the end of World War II. Returning home, he joined his brother in becoming a Police Officer with NYPD. He later worked for Crum & Forster Insurance where he worked until retirement. Jim enjoyed his Wednesday golf game with the guys, and bowling with his wife Christine for many years. He also enjoyed spending family time with his children & grandchildren, as well the simple things in life, reading the Sunday paper, visiting the local library, & following stock market.  Most of all he enjoyed traveling & social activities with his beloved wife Chris, who had predeceased him only 7 weeks ago.
James is survived by his 5 loving children Karen Meehan & husband Chuck, Jeanne Morsch, James Carway Jr., Marianne Knott (John Williams), & Elizabeth Cangiano & her husband Andrew. Eight beautiful grandchildren Ian Morsch & his wife Ako, Miranda Morsch & Husband Matt Frink, Austin & Ross Meehan, Jillian & Robert Knott, Andrew & Aidyn Cangiano.  And lastly two Great grandchildren Anika & Niki Morsch.  He absolutely adored all his grandchildren, his face lit up every time he saw them.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 28th, at 11am in St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville NJ 08721. There will be a private burial for Mr. Carway with his wife at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Please, no flowers. Your kindness in donating to; American Cancer (cancer.org), in Jim’s memory would be apricated.
