James Joseph Eagen, 95, of Beachwood, NJ, formerly of Westwood, NJ, born Feb. 6, 1927, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022. Predeceased in death by his wife, Ellen M Eagen in 2007. Father of Daniel Eagen and his wife Joanne, Katherine Bieth, Margaret Masters and her husband Timothy, Thomas Eagen and his wife Barbara and Sharon Cucos and her husband William. James had 14 grandchildren, Jessica Gokcen and her husband Levent, JD Eagen and his partner Lauren, Samantha Wilusz and her husband John, Kimberly Bieth, Jennifer Stanton and her husband Randy, Jeffrey Masters and his wife Amanda, Christopher Eagen, Mathew Eagen and his wife Alison, Michael Eagen, Daniel Eagen, Zachariah Cucos, Dale Cucos and his wife Kimberly, Nicholas Cucos and Luger Speiser. James also had 7 Great Grandchildren, Matthew Dalgren, Mete and Leyla Gokcen, Greyson and Hudson Eagen, Alexander Stanton and Lilith Cucos. Also surviving are his brother John, his sister Marilyn and brother Ronald.
Above all in life, James adored his family, they meant everything to him. He raised his family in Westwood, NJ and then moved to Beachwood in 1986 when he and Ellen retired. Before retiring though, he worked for the Westwood Post Office as a letter carrier and was an integral part of starting the Letter Carriers Union. He was proud of his service in the Navy on the USS Taconic during WWII. James was a Lifetime Member of the Westwood Fire Department, with the Hook & Ladder Company. He wore many hats during his life, loving husband and father, mailman, fireman, baseball coach, fishing buddy, car mechanic and many more. Everyone whoever met him loved him, he never had a bad thing to say about anyone and no one about him. His huge smile and loud voice and infectious laugh is remembered by all and his passing will cause a huge hole in all our hearts.
Viewing Friday 7/15/22 at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721 from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass Saturday 11am at St Andrew’s Church, 120 Washington Ave, Westwood, NJ followed by Graveside service at St Andrew’s Cemetery 266 Cedar Lane, Rivervale, NJ.
