Ida V. Whittaker, 69, of South Toms River passed away on June 13, 2024. Born in Cliffside Park, she was raised in West New York and Ridgefield Park before moving with her family to Bayville when she 16. Ida then graduated from Central Regional High School, Berkeley Township. Class of 1972. Ida was totally devoted to her family, especially to her grandchildren. She loved her trips to Florida and enjoyed her time on the beach. She loved to crochet and do arts and crafts. Ida was an avid photographer who loved capturing memories spent with her family. She was a girls softball coach for Berkeley Township and later a boys baseball coach for South Toms River. She served on the board of the Toms River High School South Bandwagon where she was the head of fundraising for many years.
She is predeceased by her parents Ed and Martha Mackie and by her brother John Mackie. Surviving is her beloved husband of 52 years Donald, her four loving children Jennifer DeMarco and husband Mike, Christopher Whittaker and wife Krista, D.J. Whittaker, and Martha Mroz and husband Bucky, eight cherished grandchildren Michael, Jade, Eddie, Ida, D.J., Matthew, Ethan, and Benjamin, also three loving siblings.
A Memorial Mass will be at St. Barnabas Church in Bayville on June 21, 2024 at 11:00am. The arrangements are under the direction of Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721.
