Gloria Mikell

Gloria Mikell, November 2,1928- May21,2022. Gloria passed away peacefully on Saturday morning at her home in Bayville. She was born in Brooklyn,New York to her parents, Elsie and Nicholas Calligeros on November 2,1928. She grew up in NY where she graduated from beauty school. She met the love of her life, Gerald T Mikell and married him October 22,1950. They later moved to New Jersey to raise there 3 children. She spent most of her life in her beloved town of River Vale. She worked as a Unit Secretary until she retired from a 27 year career at Pascack Valley Hospital. After she retired she stayed active with the senior group the sunshine club where she planned trips and events.She worked on a quilt in honor of the Bicentennial of River Vale along with her daughter Deborah and the club which hangs in the municipal building. She was also active in the Democratic Club. Her late husband Gerald  had been a council man there. The street, Mikell lane, in town was named in honor of him.

She is survived by 3 children, her Daughters Patricia K. Simpson, Deborah J. Mikell, and her son Joseph T. Mikell along with his spouse Michelle. 7 grandchildren; Jessica A. Simpson, Matthew Moich and his spouse Jacqueline, Daniel Moich and his spouse Monica, Caroline, Erin Mikell, Thomas and Kellam Mikell.  Also, 7 great grandchildren; Jordan, Lucas, Grayson, Samson, Matilee, Dylan, and Mason.

We will be celebrating her life at Mastapeter Memorial Home,  270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ on Tuesday May 31, 2022,  between 5-8 pm and Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 10-11am. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Saint Andrew's Cemetery, 266 Cedar Lane River Vale, NJ. 07675 at 1:30pm.
