Gerald C Duggan Jr.

Gerald C. Duggan Jr. age 65, passed away on October 25th, 2021, with his devoted wife at his bedside after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gerald was born on February 5th 1956 in Belford, NJ to Phyllis and Gerald Duggan. He grew up in Belford, NJ, graduated from Middletown High School in 1975. He earned his teaching degree through Stockton University in Galloway, NJ. He was certified in K-8 with a additional certification in Holocaust and Genocide Education. He was a beloved elementary school teacher for over 20 years and the NJEA President for Berkeley Township School District since 2005. Prior to his teaching career he worked as a UPS supervisor and in industrial management for Connectron for 15 years. 

Gerald was happily married to Nancy J. Duggan for 42 years at the time of his death.

Gerald was survived by his wife, his daughter Brietta Arbona and husband Peter Arbona, his daughter Aileen Duggan and husband Thomas Brindle, and his grandchildren; Liam, Lucy, and Alexa. He was also survived by his brother Frank Duggan and wife Barbara, his sisters; Sharon Fischer and husband William, Kathleen Krueger and husband Robert, Marilyn Tarantino and husband Dominic, and Patricia Patten and husband Robert as well as his many nieces and nephews along with numerous dear family and friends.

 He was predeceased by his parents Gerald C. Duggan and Phyllis Duggan Remenar, stepfather Joseph A. Remenar, and granddaughter Lily Angelina Arbona.

Besides his love for his family and friends, he collected historical memorabilia, enjoyed many competition reality shows, and was a fountain pen enthusiast. Gerald had a larger than life personality, a great sense of humor, his laughter was contagious and he loved a good argument. He was extremely generous in nature, made huge impacts on anyone who knew him, especially his former students. He will be truly missed by all that loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 9:30am at St. Barnabas, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville, NJ 08721. Entombment will follow concluding mass to Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Rd., Holmdel, NJ 07733. Condolences can be sent to www.mastapetermemorialhome.com.
