George E. Wood, 71, of Bayville, NJ passed away on May 21, 2026, with his wife Liz by his bedside. Born in Plainfield, NJ moved to and raised in Bayville, NJ all his life.  

Mr. Wood worked at Berkeley Township for garage servicing and maintaining all the vehicles, especially the police cars. He also filled in on the positions within the Township where he was needed. George was an avid car buff and had great appreciation for older cars and antiques. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Surviving is his wife Elisabeth, two daughters; Sandra Wood Ansari and her husband Shariq, and Jennifer Ruiz and her husband Austyn, four grandchildren; Greyson Ruiz, Logan Ruiz, Silas Ansari and Fiona Ansari, and one sister; Arleen Selk.  

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville, NJ, Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Rd., Toms River, NJ.
