Eunice Martell Casabona passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023 at the age of 102. Through the years she and her husband, Frank, lived in a variety of places, including Peabody, Massachusetts, Fair Lawn, and Warren, New Jersey, Hurricane, West Virginia, and Washington, DC., before retiring in Bayville, NJ in 1980. Eunice, who attended business school for accounting, worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Lane Paper Co., in Paterson, NJ and later as controller for Precision Pumps in WV. She also worked as a volunteer in the Mail Room at the White House during the Reagan administration and for over 20 years at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Eunice and Frank were accomplished Ballroom and Square Dancers and were active members of the Manahawkin Elks. Eunice also enjoyed being creative with a hobby in ceramics.
Mrs. Casabona was predeceased by her husband of over 45 years, Frank Joseph Casabona, who passed in 1989 and by her six siblings: Elizabeth Caminiti, George Martell, Annabelle Flammia, Hazel Crimmins, Phyllis Ritchie and Richard Martell. She was also predeceased by her dear friend Capt, Bertram Christensen.
Surviving Eunice are her two children and their spouses: Terry Ann Valenta and her husband Gene, and Steven Casabona and his wife Cathy. Also her five grandchildren: Jay Valenta, Robert Valenta, Liza Casabona, Abigail Casabona Fein and Matt Casabona, her seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be offered on Wednesday December 27th, from 9 am to 11am at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 in St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville. Entombment will be at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1755 Silverton Road, Tom’s River.
