Eugene Mazza Obituary

 

Eugene Charles Mazza passed away on September 24th 2021, at the age of 92, his loving partner Jenny Porter was by his side. Gene Mazza or Chuck as he was also known was born in Pittsfield MA on April 8th 1929, the oldest of eight siblings. He had a passion for billiards and was an extremely good player. As a young man he began boxing and won several competitions. Gene served in the Army as an MP during the Korean War before heading to college. After college he began a career with GE  and worked his way up to Computer Program Manager, and was one of the programmers working on the computers during the Apollo Space Missions. Gene Loved sports and was an avid bowler, golfer and baseball player. He also appreciated good food and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, stuffed oysters, escarole soup, smelt and escargot were some of his favorites to make . 

He was the proud father to three daughters Valerie Alexander, Audrey Curry and Carolyn Butera. He is survived by his first wife Virginia Mazza and sisters Annie Pannesco, Berverly Pizzuto and brother Carl Mazza, grandchildren Liam Blakey, Lucas Curry, Geneva Curry as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. 

 There will be visiting hours for Eugene on Wednesday, Oct. 6th, from 7pm to 9pm at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Thursday, Oct. 7th, 10am at the funeral home before celebrating an 11am Funeral Mass in St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville.
