Edwin J. DeSilva Jr., 79, of Bayville, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022. Born in Summit, he was raised in Clark and has been a resident of Bayville since 1967. Mr. DeSilva was a Custodian at Central Regional High School for the past 20 years before recently retiring last December. Ed had proudly served his country in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War as a Helicopter Mechanic. Also, he was a member of the VFW Post #10118 of Forked River. Additionally, Ed was a member of the Ground Swipers Trap Shooting Club also of Forked River. Ed had a wonderful sense of humor and was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. If he wasn’t spending time with them, you would find him target shooting somewhere.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Donna; five children, Darlene Anderson and her husband Lester, Edwin DeSilva III and his wife Donna, David DeSilva and his "spouse" Chelsea Stauffer, William DeSilva and his wife Jennifer and Catherine Becella and her husband Joseph; three grandchildren, Stephanie DeSilva, Joseph Becella and Michael Becella.
Visiting hours will be Monday, Mar. 14th, from 4pm to 7pm at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Tuesday will be private with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwin’s memory to: American Cancer (cancer.org), would be appreciated.
