Dorothy A. Beller, 80, of Toms River, passed away on January 3, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Jersey Shore Hospital after a short illness. Dorothy was born on July 5, 1941 in Elizabeth, NJ to Lawrence and Anna Cicariello. Growing up in Garwood & Milltown, she attended New Brunswick High School. Prior to her marriage she was an apostolate at the Religious Teachers Filippini in Morristown, NJ. She resided briefly in Detroit with her husband Fred. She later moved to Edison where she raised her family. She was employed by St. Peter's Hospital and worked as a private caretaker; she later worked as a recruiter at Clinical Research in Piscataway. Dottie’s quick smile and warmth were infectious; she enjoyed reading, visiting Atlantic City, playing the scratch offs, traveling to visit family and friends, and making chocolate chip pancakes for her grandchildren.
Dottie was a devout Catholic whose faith was an anchor to her family; she was a member of the Secular Carmelites where she often participated in religious retreats at the Carmelite Monastery in Flemington, NJ. She also volunteered in each parish she belonged to, most recently as a Rosarian at St. Joseph's in Toms River. Dottie was a devoted mom who served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and was active in the PTA. She was also very proud of her Italian heritage which manifested itself in her joy of cooking delicious cookies and Italian food. She also dabbled in Polish cuisine.
Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fred & her sister Barbara. She is survived by her children Mary Ann Beller (John), Fred (partner Naomi), Monica Lanier (Nick), Larry (Rachel), and Frank (Denise). Dottie was a doting and proud Babci leaving behind five loving grandchildren: Nicholas, Alex, Thomas, Madalena, and Jude as well as a very large extended family.
Viewing will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 5pm – 8pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd. Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 12th. Family and friends may gather at 8:30 am in the funeral home before leaving to celebrate a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church in Toms River at 10am. Burial will follow at the B.G.W.C.D. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or a charity of your own choice would be greatly appreciated.
