Doreen M Lanza

Doreen Marie Lanza, 89, of Bayville NJ passed away September 21, 2021 with her loving children by her side. Doreen was born in 1932 in Newark, NJ to Thomas and Marie Donatiello. It was at a local A&P Supermarket in Newark where she met the man that she would spend the rest of her life, her husband Vincent Lanza who predeceased her.  Doreen moved to Toms River with Vincent where they started a family and then Greenlawn NY to raise their growing family, before retiring to Bayville NJ.  Doreen loved spending time with family, whether it was her children and grandchildren on Long Island, or her brothers and their families in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. An expert in the kitchen known for her delicious holiday cookies, she was a skilled Mahjong player who played weekly, and was a lifelong die-hard New York Mets fan. Doreen was an avid reader and could spend hours at a time reading a good book. She was a beloved wife, sister, sister-in-law, mother and grandmother and is survived by her brothers Nick Donatiello and his partner Carol Rusnak, Gene Donatiello and his wife Lenora, son Gerald Lanza and his husband Evan Hines of Manhattan, NY, daughter Susan Bonfiglio and her partner Vincent Pinzone of West Sayville, NY, and son Stephen Lanza and his wife Deborah of Wading River, NY. She also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren, Bettina Bonfiglio, Dylan and Riley Lanza, and many loving nieces and nephews. Doreen was a wonderful woman who made everyone feel welcome and will be greatly missed by her children, family, and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721 Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 12pm-4pm.  A Memorial mass will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Saint Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville, NJ. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River NJ 08753. In lieu of flowers Donations made in Doreen's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
