Dewey C. Nami Sr., 67, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 29, 2023. Dewey was born to Emma and Charles Nami on October 30, 1955 in Trenton, New Jersey. He was raised in the Hamilton area, where he started his family and later moved to Bayville to be on the water.
Dewey started working as a heavy equipment operator in 1973 at Nami Bros, his family’s owned and operated excavating business. Joining the Operating Engineers Union, Local 825, he went on to spend 46 years running machines in the tri-state area before retiring in 2019.
Dewey liked to refer to himself as a “certain type of cat,” those lucky enough to know him understand. He enjoyed fishing on his boat, driving his Corvette, listening to music and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His dogs also held a special place in his heart.
Dewey is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Stacy, his children Dewey Jr., Nicole, James, Stephanie and Victoria; his eight grandchildren; his sister Linda and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Emma and his niece, Natalie.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 4pm – 8pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd. Bayville, NJ 08721.
