David F. Konczal

David F. Konczal, 78, of the Bamber Lake section of Forked River passed away on April 7, 2026. Born in Danbury, CT on November 19, 1947. He was taken to Barnegat, NJ at only a few days old by his adoptive parents Vi and Ted Konczal. He attended Barnegat Grade School and Southern Regional High School, graduating in 1966. He joined the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and worked in Barnegat for a year and then served his Country in the US Navy in 1967. He served abroad the Destroyer's USS Wedderburn DD684 and the USS Buck DD 761 doing 2 tours off Vietnam and a Mid-Sipman cruise. He left the Navy in 1971; the same year he started working for the Naval Air Station at Lakehurst as a boiler operator and worked in both steam power plants, and also as a water plant operator. David retired in 2010 with 43 years and 2 months of service. He was the rehired by the Environmental Department at Lakehurst working for EHS Tech. Doing GIS and various other jobs at the Base. Retiring from there in 2014. Then he worked for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service as a District Fire Warden until 2017. Then was appointed a Special Warden. Mr. Konczal was a member of the Central Jersey District Fire Wardens Association. He also was a past member of the Barnegat Methodist Church.  

He is predeceased by his parents Vi and Ted Konczal, and a son David Jr. Surviving is his wife of 35 years Marthe J. Konczal, his daughter Amy and stepdaughter Jennifer and stepson’s Sal and Chris Covino. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Family and Friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm with Military Honors at 7:30pm.
