Charles Grossi Obituary

Charles Grossi, 87, of Pine Beach passed away at Community Medical Center on February 15, 2017. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, "Charlie" was a 1947 graduate, with honors, from "Henry Snyder" High School. He was his class president. After graduating, Charlie enlisted in the US Army, proudly serving his country in post-World War II and then later drafted to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from war, he met and dated the love of his life, Mary Watson, who soon became his wife of 60 wonderful years. They became parents of two children, Maggie and Chuck. Charlie was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A man of few words, he showed his love in actions more than words. He provided his family with more than they ever wanted or needed, in good times or tough times. He was quick to help any neighbor in need, as he was "Mr. Fix-it". He showed his softer side to all living creatures as his house became a foster home to many "stray" dogs and cats that his family would bring him. He was quick witted with a dry sense of humor. He was extremely talented as a skilled craftsman in wood carvings and painting. As much as anything, he loved his N.Y. Football Giants. He transformed his whole family, wife, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, into Giants fans, which was also a tribute to how much his whole family loved him.

Charlie was employed as a lab technician with Ciba Geigy Chemical Corp for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Joseph and Vincent. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his daughter, Maggie Trengrove and her husband Ed, his son Chuck Grossi and his wife, Eydie, seven grandchildren, Abigail and her husband Michael Kulzy, Miles and his wife Amalia Trengrove, Noah Trengrove, Luke Trengrove, Breeana Grossi, Hannah Grossi, and Evan Grossi, as well as six great grandchildren: Maia, Gracie, and Roman Trengrove, and Kayla, Alyssa, and Anthony Kulzy. He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved as well.

Visiting hours will be Sunday February 19 from 2 PM - 4 PM with a prayer service at 3:45 PM, in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard (Route 9), Bayville.
