Catherine "Kay" Gallagher Obituary

Catherine ‘Kay” Gallagher, 85, of Bayville passed away peacefully on Monday May 25, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a life time of cherished memories, laughter and kindness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY and growing up in Staten Island, NY Kay was known for her warm heart, fun personality, and wonderful sense of humor. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing golf, attending services at St. Barnabas and being a member of “The Red Hat Ladies”. No matter what challenges life brought, she never complained and faced everything with grace and strength, even until the very end.

For over 30 years, Kay co-owned alongside her brother Jimmy at Joel Richards Salon, one of the premier salons in Toms River, popular among local socialites and successful business owners. She also dedicated many years to teaching cosmetology at O.C.V.T.S where she mentored and inspired countless students throughout her career.

Kay is survived by her daughter Patty Pollack and husband Steve; her son Tommy Gallagher and daughter-in-law Karen; her cherished grandchildren Kayla Puleo and husband John, Kyle Malloy, and Thomas Gallagher and her adored great- grandchildren Carter and Sienna Puleo. She is also survived by Her brother Jack Tillett and girlfriend Pat; her sister Pat deQueiroz and husband Dave; sister-in-law Sandy Tillett and many loving nieces and nephews including Michelle Homoki and husband Imi, Spencer Tillett and wife Robyn, Deyna Loughlin, Holly Buniewski and husband Kevin, Michael Tillett and wife Vicki. Along with many second nieces and nephews.

Her family finds comfort knowing she is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Tom Gallagher, son Rick, daughter Debbie, grandsons Ricky and Christian, her brothers Jimmy and Edward, sister-in-law Chickie, niece Patty Healey, nephew Baby Jack Tillett and the many loved ones our family has lost throughout the years.

In honoring Kay’s wishes, private burial services will be held at St. Josephs Cemetery. A Celebation of Life gathering for family and friends will be planned and announced in the near future. Kay will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
